Ready To Eat with Pret A Manger

For my Context of Practice brief I decided to choose one of the Brits’ favourite brands and the one from the list of UK coolest brands – Pret A Manger (or just Pret).

There was not too difficult to choose it. This brand has a great history and a big love of customers.

In 1986, more than 25 years ago, when two college friends, Sinclair and Julian, decided to open in London their first sandwich shop, they couldn’t predict what big changes on the market it would cause.

The  Pret A Manger brand changed the face of sandwich bars and rewrote the book on quality control and customer service. The Philosophy of the Pret is to create handmade, natural food, avoiding the obscure chemicals, preservatives and additives found in much of the ‘prepared’ and ‘fast’ food on the market today.

For over 25 years, Pret has kept quality, service and people at the heart of its business. They build a kitchen in (or very near) every Pret shop, where everything is handmade from freshly prepared ingredients. Unsold food is offered to charities to help feed the homeless at the end of each day.

What is interesting about this brand for my brief is that Pret doesn’t really advertise itself. As brand’s managers say, they don’t have to advertise their brand, because they provide an exceptionally reliable experience and their shops and their people are their adverts. However, some good adverts might help to promote this British brand in other countries with different mentality and lifestyle.

Today Pret A Manger has more than 250 shops in the UK and continues to expand overseas, with its shops having opened in France, Hong Kong and USA.

I will keep researching and publishing interesting information I found about the brand that might help me with creating my adverts.
